HAIR TRANSPLANTATION IN ACADEMIC TERMS IN THE WORLD

Although hair transplantation has become a medical practice that has become increasingly important in recent years, there is no academic institution in the world or in Turkey that has been fully implemented as a department or scientific discipline in the academic field. Although there are some certificate courses opened in universities in Turkey in this field, they either did not continue or could not be opened because they did not reach a sufficient number. These trainings could not be provided to the desired extent due to the bureaucratic procedures in universities and the uncertainties regarding the certification process. In this limited number of certificate programs opened in universities, it was planned to provide trainings mostly by assistants who did not have sufficient experience in hair transplantation, but the desired success could not be achieved.

In the world, although an educational program opened in London claims to be the world's first and only academic level hair transplantation center, it does not have any educational institution or academic accreditation. This institution, which provides education in England and Greece centers, aims to be a well-intentioned and comprehensive initiative that aims to provide scientific hair transplantation education. However, there are deficiencies such as the site not being updated and the content of the education program not being developed sufficiently. In addition to these, hair transplant specialist and hair transplant specialist assistant trainings are also provided in Ireland and London. However, the information regarding content and order is usually not up to date in these.

To summarize briefly, there is no sufficient study and application on hair transplantation education in the academic field in the world and in Turkey. The most important reasons for this are that experts who do good hair transplantation cannot spend enough time on academic studies and the difference between the income of successful doctors who do good hair transplantation and the academy.
